Fed up with the current trend of making icons shiny and the over-usage of shadows and gradients, Amsterdam based Art Director and Conceptual Designer Ben Vessey, currently freelancing at Sue Amsterdam, decided to take visual matters into his own hands. Initially Vessey imagined minimalistic, flat colored icons on his screen. But eventually his ‘retrofy’ project turned into today’s Mac icons in the style of Mac OS ’84. And, along with the ethics of the modern digital world, Vessey is sharing his work for free. Well, almost; for the price of a Tweet or Facebook Like one can hit download. The set comes along with replicas of the original wallpapers from back in the days. Good stuff.
