This weekend Part of a Bigger Plan (and Christian Borstlap) won the The Golden Eye, the award for the best Dutch graphic design 2012. An international jury chose the film ‘Louis Vuitton I’ out of a field of 650 contestants. The film shows Vuitton’s beginnings in 19th century Paris. It was commissioned by Nowness for the Louis Vuitton Marc Jacbos exhibition at the Musée des Arts Décoratifs, in Paris. The jury praized the film for its “multi-layered character” (story, execution, historic value, etc.) in which “analogue craftsmanship and digital mastery go hand in hand.” We’ve seen more films of this kind made for fashion brands by Part of a Bigger Plan (this one, for example, also for LV), which makes the style the agency’s signature. And, as we know now, a signature that represents the best of contemporary Dutch design.
