Mac Macdonald has been appointed “First President” of Sid Lee Amsterdam and will be in charge of the agency’s latest global account Absolut Vodka – won last December – and is hired to expand the agency’s presence in Europe. Macdonald seems a good match for the role, since he is an agency “globe trotter” with 20+ years of working in over 45 countries across all continents – working on global brands such as IBM, Microsoft, HP, Thomson Reuters, Starbucks, Accenture, Nikon and HSBC. He also held a variety of executive roles with WPP, Havas and Publicis Groupe. Jean-François Bouchard, global CEO of Sid Lee, about selecting Macdonald for their first “atelier” outside of North America: “After 5 years of presence in Amsterdam, we felt it was time to appoint a global leader to solidify our presence in Europe and take the atelier to another level”. In our language: “Sid Lee is too damn invisible in Europe!” Good luck, Mr Macdonald, make us proud.
