Yesterday I woke up to the news of an incident at SXSW. Some drunken idiot had run through a barricade and into a crowd. Two people were killed, many others badly injured. I found myself doing a quick check to see if there was anyone there I know, then figured what are the odds and dismissed the possibility altogether. Only hours later I found out that one of the fatalities was Massive Music’s Steven Craenmehr and the world came to a grinding halt.
Steven was the most kind-hearted, positive, talented and above all most energetic man I’ve ever had to privilege of working with. Remember that sign ‘Unattended children will be given an espresso and a free puppy?’ Steven was that child and the puppy and that’s what made him so amazing.
My heart goes out to his family and the guys at Massive – also his family come to think of it. Though nothing good comes from this terrible tragedy, the only thing I’ll take away from this, is that life is too short to worry about clients wanting their logo’s bigger. Live it to the fullest, like only Steven could.
You will be dearly missed.
