Funny, this commercial doesn’t communicate any benefits going beyond the standard category attributes. It’s like saying; with KPN you can make international phone calls – which is actually something the former government-owned provider already communicated in the 80s.
However, if image and, more specifically, a sympathetic brand personality is all you care about, this commercial must be working quite well. After seeing it you can easily imagine how KPN helps expats to have a little bit of Holland in their exotic homes. In this case, Dutch grandpa Henk in Dubai – who is at the end overruled by another app, even though he asks the toddlers if he can also speak with “mummy.” Quite nice.
