Lemz

Lemz was founded in 2000, at the peak of the dotcom-hype, by Peter de Lange, Mark Woerde and Maurice Maas. Although the agency is fairly young, it has grown fully mature within no time. The agency focusses on "letting brands do things", rather than push messages. Its expertise in ‘cross media brand activation’ makes it one of the most complete and versatile agencies in the Netherlands. It was awarded interactive agency of the year in both 2007 and 2009 and services clients like Ikea, Unilever, Douwe Egberts and Coca Cola.

Esprix; smart advertising with impact

May 14th, 2009, Award, Film, Online

This viral for X-Travel made by YoungWorks, won a bronze Esprix award yesterday. A viral that truly deserves its name; it has generated 2.7 million hits until now. The Esprix awards are about smart and effective advertising that activates the consumer. 23 cases were awarded; 8 won silver and 15 bronze – no gold. Just like at the ADCN awards, TBWA\Neboko walked away with the most prizes; 2 silver and 1 bronze award. Followed by Doom&Dickson (1s.,1b.) and Lemz (the interactive agency of the year won 3 times bronze). In our humble opinion, the best concept was created by Selmore for van Gils. The Amsterdam agency created a new icon for Van Gils, a white window dummy that physically proved its tagline; ‘it’s all about the suit’. The dummy showed up with hot celebs at many international paparazzi events and thus naturally generated tons of free publicity. Talking about smart advertising!

Lemz digital agency of the year

April 4th, 2009, Award, Event

Thursday night the Golden and Silver Spin Awards were divided between the best Dutch digital and cross media agencies. For the first time the winners weren't kept in suspense until the official award night in the Gashouder, because Adformatie (the Dutch ad magazine) by mistake distributed its magazine with the results too early. Of course, the winners couldn’t care less. Lemz was the big winner this year, with two golden awards and the title ‘interactive agency of the year’. The other two golden Spins went to Achtung! (last year elected agency of the year) for Sultana and Red Urban & FHV/BBDO for Hi. Check entire list here.

The concept that impressed us the most was Upload Cinema by Draftfcb (Silver; cross media). Not because it's hyper interactive, not becasue it's so innovative, but just because it is as simple as brilliant ideas often are. Upload Cinema brings together the best of YouTube within a monthly changing theme in art house cinema De Uitkijk. What we especially like about it is that it facilitates something that internet needs, an editor seperating the heaps of crap that soil the long tail from the little gems that are not always being noticed.
